The Nurse - Dead by Daylight (Alternate)
Why this costume:
If you haven't noticed in my costume line up I have quite a few Dead by Daylight killers...with only more to come since I adore that game.
Details Construction:
Dress:
There really isn't a lot to say here. I did a lot of research for this costume. With so many parts actually from the WWII time period I wanted to really do her right and justice. The pattern itself was an old McCall's pattern I picked up online and modified. I then, like my other Nurse, went to town distressing and adding gore. I made the buttons on the front functional despite starting out by faking it. The belt on the other hand I did go ahead and fake.
Legs and Arms:
Once again, I did the same method as Hisako and Wraith! If it works, don't fix it.
Make-up:
Mehron Paradise in: Black and red. Snazaroo in Light Grey and Dark Grey. Lots of time...and love to apply. I sealed it with Mehron Sealing Spray.
Mask:
This mask....this mask. So, I actually researched this mask for over a week. I started making my own because quite honestly trying to get a replica one at a decent price looked impossible. I finished my prototype and though it looked okay, I just wasn't happy. I didn't give up the pursuit of an authentic gas mask however, and ended up finding one after about a month of shopping around. I changed up the straps a bit to be more accurate, cleaned it up, added just a couple of foam pieces to give it a more accurate shape, and then distressed it.
The inside back is basic dark brown burlap. Cut into two squares, sewn up, turned and then eye holes removed. The gas mask does the remaining folding to get the look I wanted.
Weapon:
Upgrade time! They released a new weapon for the Nurse called the Marked Bridal Saw. Which as soon as I saw it....it was love at first sight. I adore that weapon! I knew it was a must make! I started the same way as my other bonesaw and drafted a pattern out of a couple different piece and thickness of foam. This one took me a couple extra mockup to get the right size blade. I then covered the entire thing in Worbla. The Rose was made on livestream while using worbla and stacking it. I then connected it to the base and added the details like leaves, stems, thorns, and other pieces.
The final step was layers of modpodge, a base coat of plastidip, and then paint. I used Metallic spray paint as the base...then a rub of black acrylic to get in corners and detailed spots. The same in red on the rose and green on the leaves and stems. The final touches were the blood and the mark. The mark was drawn on with sharpie and the blood puff paint.
