The Wraith - Dead by Daylight
Why this costume:
Where do I even begin?! I was obsessed with Dead by Daylight and I knew it was a MUST when I saw this killer as he was my favorite at the time. This was so long ago when there were still only three killers! Who can even remember those days? Ding DONG!
Details Construction:
Capelette:
Made of multiple materials including Leatherette, cotton, and some scraps I had in the garage of poplin. I then covered the entire thing in several layers of sand/dirt and spray adhesive. Finally sealing it with a couple layers of different forms of paint. I took a knife to it and burned several details as well. I then added other paint details and layered the two different pieces to make my layered cape! These were simple drafted by draping the fabric on myself.
Neck piece:
Made of cotton, but distressed with multiple times of paints including acrylics and fabric paints. It was a simple scarf style pattern that velcros on the side.
Undershirt:
Was simply a black tank that I modified and added football style shoulder pads underneath to give myself a broader shoulder look.
Shorts/legs:
The pants were old leggings I had laying around that I cut the legs off to make into shorts. I then made grey stockings similar to my Hisako ones, and added tons of paint and details too for the final look that was similar to the style of the Wraith. I then used white medical bandages and wrapped the shorts completely. Finally, I finished the details with make-up and paint to give it a "dirty" look on the bandages.
Bag/Belt:
The bag was a leftover piece from my Sheriff of Lynchwood costume. The belt was made and then painted black so that it could wrap twice.
Mask:
I know this is why you are here....come on! Okay...where to even begin?! Um, MAGIC! Seriously...this was just patience. I used a latex based mask (like the kind you get at costume shops). Very, VERY basic! I didn't want any details that would take away from the final look of the mask. I then took Model Magic (that's right....just plan old Model magic) and in a couple hours of work I molded to final look of the Wraith. I did it section by section. The top "horns" are real actual sticks that I removed from my own yard to keep things authentic. I did all the sculpting by hand as well as the painting. It took a couple layers in some areas, but I left the rough surface of the model magic to make it resemble real mud. Finally I painted the mask with basic acrylic paints. As always, if you have any questions about my process you are welcome to message me....but this pretty much my process. You can see progress photos below for more details.
