Dana / Zuul - Ghostbuster

Why this costume:
Ghostbusters was a classic growing up. I loved it. Though it was by far my brothers favorite movie it was definitely one that got watched on a regular in my house growing up. So, when MsValentine said that she wanted to make Gozer I knew Dana was the one for me.
Details Construction:
This outfit was made by draping material until I found the right pattern. I actually made two dresses to achieve the effect for her dress and have the two layers of colored fabric as seen in her lining. The bottom layer was a gold Lamé. The top layer was an auburn organza I found at Joann's and it gave me just the look I was going for when paired with the gold lamé.
This wasn't my first time working with lamé, but it was the first time using it on something like a dress...and it's a very messy material. So I used a rolled hem on the edges to make sure it stayed clean and finished. The upper organza I simply turned the hem myself and sewed it in place to keep an even and clean presentation as well. I left the lining on the bottom loose and unattached so that the two layers could come apart, much like in her costume.
