VELVET - TALES OF ZESTIRIA
Why this costume:
Velvet is the first female lead in a Tales of game. I have always wanted to cosplay from a Tales game, but one thing or another always came up and stopped me. This one though was such a cool design I knew it was a must.
Details Construction:
Top:
The red base top was made out of the Yaya Han cosplay line from Joann's. This was the 4-way Ultrapreme Fabric in red. I literally made this top by draping this on my body. Since it was stretch fabric there was a lot of room for adjustments. I used white bias on the bottom edges for the details and I painted on the white spider detail. I also used grommets to allow for the laced up front details. Using a random black silk rolled ribbon in my box for the cord.
Shorts:
Modified from Yoga pants. I cut them all up and attached a belt to them. I then hand sewed on bias for the straps above the crotch. The grey "buckle" pieces are made of foam, grommets, and patience.
Coat:
I honestly...do not remember at ALL what exact fabric I bought. I went with a suiting material and picked one with the best body, weight, and price. Made the coat with my own pattern to modify the collar to lay off the shoulders. I then took a flame to her left arm and destroyed it. I used this same method on the bottom of the jacket. Something that I noticed in the trailer and with the help of my friend Peter, I got to see the design on the back of her jacket. I added that with red bias and Kona Cotton for the larger piece. Again, all "clasps" were made of foamie, grommets, and patience.
Leggings:
These were made from Nylon/Spandex material. I held them up with spirit gum.
.
Armor pieces:
Everything was made of foamie and trinkets I had laying around.
Belts/other pieces:
Not much to say here. I just made them from the same material as the coat. I then added grommets for details.
