Nico Robin - One Piece Strong World

Why this costume:
So, I really love One Piece. While my other costumes from the series probably gave that away, I'm always drawn to the designs from the series. I had some really great friends who would never stop talking about it....and so I got into reading it. Best decision! When one of those friend asked to do a Luffy cosplay I knew I couldn't let him down. So, I made both the Strong World Luffy cosplay as well as my Robin.
A bit of a switch up from the many Nami costumes I have done in the past. I really love Robin too, but with the motivation of my friend asking me to make his Strong World Luffy and the prospect of a full group, Robin was the choice!
Details:
I drafted out a really simple jacket pattern...and having done the same style collar for the Luffy costume I simply used the same pattern I had previously drafted for that costume and made it smaller.
The dress was a thrift store find, so no sewing was necessary.
The feathers were then hand sewed to the trim. Luckily they were designed similar to a boa, so I could easily just attach them from the base string and cut to length
The belt was made of some extra pleather that I had laying around. I made the "buckle" out of EVA foam. I painted and added the designs to the buckle. The buckle design was achieved with hot glue that I then painted. Finally I painted the design/belt gold.
The wig was actually my Zatanna wig. I accidentally gave the wrong wig to a friend on Friday night (I thought it was my Dr. Girlfriend wig, but it was my Robin wig) and I told her she could cut and style it to fit the character she was cosplaying. Little did I know....so, I chopped up my Zatanna wig that I happen to have with me the morning of. So, it's not perfect but pretty good for a stand-in wig I cut the morning of.
