Mizune - Soul Eater
Why this costume:
Wow, Mizune. I made this costume to go with my friend's Blair. It was a challenge...at least the top and the hat were.
Details:
The top is wire and interfacing as a base structure. I designed to top almost like a lampshade, with the wire extending to give me shoulder straps as well. The entire costume, aside from the hat, was made from black and white gabardine. I figured it would have enough weight to give me the right look. I cut so many white stripes.... oh Dear so many. I finished and turned each individual stripe and then attached them...carefully measuring beforehand. Had to be Kid approved and symmetrical! I was sure to leave a portion of the white stripe to extend off the bottoms, as it does in the series. It was a small detail but one I wanted to ensure I recreated.
The shoes are just socks modified to look like mouse feet. I used foam in the toes to present a mouse like foot. Hand sewing to give the details to each toe.
As for the hat, poseable wire mixed with Polyfill, mixed with love and determination. It really was just a mess of trial and error.
I did the manga version, so of course, underboob. Which would also explain why I painted the eyes black and not pink on the hat.
