Lulu - Final Fantasy X
I made this costume over a period of 3 1/2 months originally. However, I absolutely love Lulu and knew I had room for improvement. So, after waiting a couple years I took the costume out of storage and started to clean some areas up...and add more details. My original version I entered into the costume contest at AFO 2007 and won 2nd place Novice category. This was the only time I had enough courage to enter into a costume contest.
The fur I dyed myself, the necklaces were made and painted by hand. All the trim and details on the train, sleeves, and front were hand painted. There are a little over 55 different belts on the skirt. The corset was also made properly including the boning.
So, when asked how much time I truly put into it...I can't say. I worked on and off for many hours that is for sure! My favorite part is the skirt of belts and the beautiful hair sticks my Adrianakaninja made for me.
---------- 2010 Update Version 1.2 ----------------
I recently redid some of the aspects of the costume. I added a few more belts and tried to keep them as accurate as possible. I think I ended up with just under 60 this time around.
I repainted the sleeves, trim, and skirt...adding fuller further details to them.
I used a combing method to bring life back to the fur I had originally used and gave it some more body. I touched up all the jewelry to cover any wear and tear it received during both the last time I wore it and it's storage.
Lulu has always been one of my favorite characters, so I thought it appropriate to bring the costume back with the changes I didn't get to make last time I wore it.
