Ichiban Kuji Premium Code Geass Code Black 1st Live Encore - Kallen

Why this costume:
I love Kallen and this costume is simply amazing. I love all the small details and all the fabrics/colors. It's just an all around beautiful design and I just had to make it.
Details Construction:
This costume was completely drafted, no patterns were used, I simply bought the fabric and drafted out the pattern in a slow process by draping and fitting.
The top is made from white stretch poplin. All the details around the arms (gold pieces), red ties, and metal gold closures are hand sewn onto the top. Very little of the actual top was machine stitched.
The skirt is black Kona cotton. Single layer with a gold bias on the top and bottom for trim. I cut out the triangle "side gaps" and turned a hem on them. A unique look but I love it.
This was my first project I've worked with Horsehair ribbon. I decided to give it a try to add body to the skirt since I had to leave a side panel missing and couldn't have a petticoat on. Worked out just as I imagined. It was sewn into the hem on the skirt.
The arms were a beautiful white material I had from a project that never happened. I used wire lace on the outside for body and for the trim. I measured and sewed on red bias and then finally the grommets were added. I weaved purple quilting yarn through and finally attached tassels to the end. I dyed the tassels in two different dye baths to match the purple. They stayed on the upper arm by elastic encased underneath the gold detailing.
The leg warmers were freehand painted and drafted myself. I also did a graduated dye for the pink portion. These were probably my favorite part of the costume.
Lastly, the red fabric ties around the bust. Red Satin material I had left from a previous project that never worked out. I tried to dye the material to give it more color and life but it just wouldn't take. So, I finally settled on just the one solid color.
