Kallen - Code Geass

Why this costume:
This costume is by far one of my favorites I've done over the years. I absolutely love Kallen! Code Geass is one of my favorite Clamp series.
To be honest, I was a little afraid to make this outfit. I was worried about the actual fit. However, I was more than happy to find out, as I went along, that it was a lot of fun to make and wear.
I learned a lot from this costume:
This was my first time sewing shorts, so that was nice and I am rather happy with the results.
Also, make sure you buy the right bias tape....so you aren't hand sewing it all on. I got single fold instead of double because that was the perfect color. This was a mistake on my part that I suffered for. I didn't want to waste the supplies.

The jumpsuit:
I made this by simply laying my fabric on top of myself and cutting out a basic shape. I used duck cloth because it was the correct color, it was on sale, and it was durable and would hold my shape well. I cut out the front and back panels. I wanted to make sure that I didn't make it too large otherwise it wouldn't give me the look I was going for. I made it in two pieces. The top I left open in the front and back and then the shorts. I attached them together by sewing them together at the belt. Helped hide the seam!
The only other aspect of the costume design that I wanted to make sure I got was to not have a zipper on the front or the back....since well Kallen doesn't. To justify this and still get into the costume I make it open over my left shoulder. I used velcro and hooks & eyes to keep the closure. I also installed an invisible zipper down the right side. This worked to attach the entire top together and allowed me to get into it.
I used the straps in the front and back to tighten the costume to be well fitted and then sewed them down. Everything was finished by hand sewing the bias down.
The red undershirt was some leftover red fabric I made a basic top and sewed seams for the lines. I did the same thing for the leg warmers. I used elastic to hold them up and the fabric was stretchy so I could simply slip it under my shoes. This was also used for my headband.
The armwarmers were cream duck cloth that I lined with the same red fabric as the leggings and undershirt.
I Also got the amazing opportunity to work for Bandai at Otakon to promote the release of Code Geass! I'll add a gallery of my work with them!
