Shizuka - Queen's Blade
Why this costume:
I was asked to join a Queen's Blade group at Dragoncon. Unfortunately, I forgot the wig at home so didn't wear her with the group. However, I was really self-conscious in this costume too so in a way, it must have been me telling myself I wasn't good enough to join the girls.
Details Construction:
This costume was so very similar to my Excella costume. So much so, that I used the same pattern I'd drafted to make this one too. I used purple and black Kona cotton for the base dress. I also made the hand bracer/sleeve of this same fabric. With elastic to hold them in place. I hand sewed fishnet to the sleeve for that ninja aesthetic she has! The belt and bow were also Kona, but this time red.
She has a waist tie in the back which I tied in the front under the red bow. This was made of black knit fabric, so it stretched perfectly to just cover the back of the skirt.
Armor:
I used craft foam for all the armor. Using different thickness/layers to get the desired effects. With acrylic paint for details.
Horns:
The headband was also made from craft foam. I then shaped horns out of air dry clay and glued them to the headband.
Wig:
The wig was a white long wig that I dyed with the purple sharpie method. Her hair is a unique lavender that actually change depending on the source material. Some times it's even just dark purple! I wanted to try to recreate that same shade. I'm very happy with how the color came out. I then cut and styled the wig to match her design.
Shoes:
The base shoes were actually borrowed from Adrian! I made purple socks to wear while I had them on to give me the same style/look that she has.
