Jill Valentine - Resident Evil 1

Picture
Why this costume:
I love Resident Evil as is very clear by my previous costumes. Jill was my first played character and one that grew with me through my Resident Evil passion. I always wanted to make her iconic look and thought this would be the best time to do it for the 30th anniversary of Resident Evil!

Details Construction:
I started this costume by visiting my local thrift store. I was able to find the blue tactical pants as is! So, no changes needed there. The shirt was a good base, but I had to take it in and do some modifications to it to make it work. I then sewed on the S.T.A.R.S Patch to the sleeve. This was a patch I actually have had for over 15 years, that I finally got to use!

Armor holster:
The armor I made from 2MM EVA foam which I covered in fabric. I cut the foam for the shoulders, neck, and back to size. Then, covered those pieces individually with fabric. These pieces were then either hand sewn or glued together to ensure they stayed in place and were secure!
The straps are nylon cording which were them cut to size and burnt to keep from fraying. It was a complete trust the process moment that I think worked out very well. I added a front belt buckle and sewed it to the proper size.

Wig and accessories:
The remaining parts of this costume, such as the gloves, belts, wig, holster, and even shoes were all from my other Resident Evil costumes!
