The Nurse - Dead by Daylight

Picture
Why this costume:
I made The Wraith costume from Dead by Daylight and the whole time I was like.... "Man, I wish there was a female killer for me to make!" That very next week they announced The Nurse and I KNEW this was a must!! I adore all the killers, but she is my personal favorite at the moment.

Details Construction:

Dress:
I actually drafted the dress myself...however, the sleeves scared me. I have never made sleeves like that, so I went out and grabbed a pattern for those. I used pattern 6630 by Butterick for my sleeves. It was extremely easy to use and understand. No fear for me any longer!! I made the dress out of White Kona Cotton! I know her costume was actually probably Linen (to be time accurate), but I wanted a good heavy material that I could work with and be comfortable on since I had a VERY tight time restraint to make it before Pax! I then went to town....dying and re-dying, and touch up...and burning....and ripping the dress to make it distressed enough to be accurate. I then added lace to my collar. I went with the in-game design as much as possible for the dress,

Belt
Made of black fabric I had left from Midna's cape...simple enough. I turned the fabric and made a belt from it. I had the belt buckle left over from a previous buy and never used.

Undershirt:
I actually forgot it at PAX! Derp! So, it was just me getting my chest painted. Made it hard to try and compress my chest...since the Nurse isn't really busty. I did what I could though...with what I have.

Legs:
Once again, I did the same method as Hisako and Wraith! If it works, don't fix it.
.
Make-up:
Mehron Paradise in: Black and red. Snazaroo in Light Grey and Dark Grey. Lots of time...and love to apply. I sealed it with Mehron Sealing Spray.

Mask:
So, this made things really difficult. Couple of reasons....I had to see out of it and neither of the artwork references were consistent with the final in game model. So, I went with the one look that would let me hide eye slits the easiest. I made a simple box shaped piece out of Cotton. Folded it around my wig head and glued down the corners similar to the Nurse. I finished it but going crazy with more details and distress. I used the same types of paint that I did for the dress.

Weapon:
I started by making the base design with foam. I just kind of drew it out with a pen and determined the proper size by comparing it to the picture's aspect ratio and my own. I then made several copies with other various levels of thick foam. Then, once I was happy I covered it with Worbla. I then finished it with primer and couple layers of metallic paint. Last step was adding grim and details to it with acrylic paint. Wish I could go into more detail but that is seriously all there was to it.
